				<content:encoded><![CDATA[Willie Johnson, age 71, of Jackson, KY passed away on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at the Wells Hospice Care Center in Hazard, KY.  He was born January 12, 1955, in Jackson, KY and was the son of the late Johnnie and Christine PatrickJohnson.  He was also preceded in death by wife: Janet Minix.  Brothers:  Jimmy Johnson, Larry Johnson and Johnny Johnson.

Willie was self-employed and owner of Johnson and Minix Construction.  He enjoyed the outdoors and family gatherings.  He especially loved his pets: Echo and Jessie.

He is survived by son: Bobby Neil Minix of Jackson, KY. Daughter: Michelle Renee Holbrook of Kempton, IN.    Brothers: Willis (Colleen) Johnson and Don (Vickey)Johnson.  Sisters:  Mary Ann (Harry) Ford; Faye Wickline; Brenda Summerall and Willa (David) Angelotti.  Grandchildren:  Curtis, William, Bobby James, Trevor, Josh, Corey Braxton, Maylee Isabellah, Kamden and Nixon.  Great grandchildren:  Phoenix, Jaidyn, Kaisyn, Myles and Jaxsyn, Emmaline, Windyn, Huxtyn, Hudson, Bextyn and Mcoy.  Special Niece: Doana (Bill) Caswell, Cousin: Paul "Popcorn" Patrick.  He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at 11:00 am at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel with Estill Barnett officiating.   Burial in the Patrick Cemetery, Kings Branch, Jackson, KY.  Visitation will begin on Tuesday from 5:00-9:00 pm.  Deaton Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[Richard Lee Oaks, age 80, of Jackson, KY surrounded by his loved ones, departed this earthly life for his heavenly home on Friday, September 18, 2026, at the Baptist Health Hospital in Lexington, KY.  He was born November 22, 1945, at Elkatawa, KY and was the son of the late Marion and Nell Overbee Oaks.  He was preceded also in death by his brothers: John Oaks and James Oaks.  His sister: Georgia Jett.

Richard was a US Army Veteran. A faithful member of the First Church of God.   He enjoyed working in his garden and loved his family.

He is survived by his wife: Vickie Goff Oaks of Jackson, KY.  Stepdaughter: Naomi Bowling of Georgetown, KY. One nephew:  Jimmy (Brenda) Oaks of TN.  Two nieces:  Nelda (John) Marshall and Mary (Archie) Bowling, both of Jackson, KY. Two great nephews:  Tyler (Logan) Oaks of TN and Zach (Megan) Miller of Jackson, KY. He is also survived by a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 21, 2026, at 1:00 pm at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel with Bobby Hollon officiating.  Burial in Jackson Cemetery.  Visitation will begin on Monday at 8:00 am until time of service.  Deaton Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.   Pallbearers:  Jeff Riggs, Doug Gross, Phillip Gabbard, Jerry Noble, Dan Griffith, John Marshall.

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[Shirley Sue Hounshell, age 81, of Newport, KY, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on September 1, 2026. Shriley was born on December 10, 1944, in Breathitt County, Jackson, KY to her parents Frank and Emma (Watson) Miller.

She worked many years as a Nurse's Assistant at the Baptist Convalescent Center in Newport, KY. She was a faithful member of the Full Gospel House of Refuge. Shirley loved being with her family and especially her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband of 58 years Letch Hounshell and twin girls Barbara and Brenda.  She will leave a loving legacy behind with her family, sons; Reverend Eddie (Kristi) Hounshell Sr., Letch (Brenda) Hounshell Jr., Frank Hounshell, brothers, Mackie (Kay) Miller, Frank (Mary) Miller and sister Connie Miller. 8 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 13 great-great grandchildren and her faithful loving pup, Leroy.

Visitation will be held on Friday September 4, 2026 at Cooper Funeral Home from 5:00 pm-8:00 pm. Service will begin at 8:00 pm with Rev. Eddie Hounshell Sr conducting the service, an additional visitation will be held at Deaton Funeral Home in Jackson, KY from 10:00-12:00 pm on Saturday September 5, 2026. Following the visitation, she will be laid to rest next to her husband, Letch Hounshell at Gilbert Cemetery.

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[John Warren Pence, age 71. of Jackson, KY passed away on August 22, 2026, at the Wells Hospice Care Center in Hazard, KY.  He was born May 17, 1955, in Middletown, OH and was the son of the late Jeanette and Darrell Wallace.  He was preceded also in death by Brother:  Kevin Pence, Sister:  Martha Stacy.  Granddaughter: Dixie Rose Howard.

He is survived by wife: Lisa Goodwin Pence of Jackson, KY.  Daughters:  Clair Pence and Sarah Howard (Country).  Granddaughters:  Mercedes Miller, Mandolin Howard, Rowdy Howard, Appalachia Howard, Southern Howard.  Brother:  Ethan Cole and sisters:  Zareda Penny, Jackie Back, Bonnie Slaton. He is also survived by a host of other relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2026, from 10:00 to Noon at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel.  Funeral service will begin at Noon with Estill Barnett officiating.

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[Joy Rae Shelton, age 86, of Jackson, KY entered into eternal rest on Monday, August 31, 2026, at the KY River Medical Center in Jackson surrounded by her family.   She was born November 23, 1939, in Lee County, KY and was the daughter of the late Pryce Fletcher and Golden Hamilton.  She was also preceded in death by her husband: Floyd Shelton.  Her uncle: Brack Watkins, Jr.   Joy was retired senior vice president of Citizens Bank in Jackson, KY.  A faithful member of the First Church of God of Jackson, KY.

She is survived by her honorary children:  David Neace and Sharon of Jackson, KY.  John Gilbert and Donna of Jackson, KY.  Honorary grandchildren:  Joy Rachel Neace of Jackson, KY and Erika Rae (Joe) Harless of Staffordsville, KY.  Greg Neace, Sheena (Doug) Halsey, Stephen (Stephanie) Neace and Brian Gilbert, all of Jackson, KY.  Honorary great grandchildren:  Carter Neace, Kaydence Neace, Brooke Brewer, Brielle Halsey, Caleb Harless, Emily Hollon, Katrina Neace, Paige Neace, and Xander Neace.  A very special friend:  Roberta Fairchild.  Her spiritual family at First Church of God, Jackson, KY.  She is also survived by a host of many friends too numerous to mention.

Annie loved to garden and she was involved in her community. in Indianapolis.  She is survived by sisters:  Wilma Strunk of Booneville, KY.  Helen Nantz of Lexington, IN.  Agnes Hall of Jackson, KY, Margie (Matt) Barnett and Amanda Brewer, both of Stanton, KY.  Special brother-in-love:  David W. Baise, Sr of Indianapolis, IN. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, many other relative and friends she cherished in Indianapolis, IN.
