Ernest Shouse, age 87, of Jackson, KY passed away at his residence surrounded by his loved ones on Tuesday, October 27, 2026. He was born May 10, 1939, at Cane Creek of Breathitt County, KY and was the son of the late Berry and Haney Stamper Shouse. He was also preceded in death by brothers: Clyde Shouse, Willie Shouse, Benny Shouse, Charlie Shouse, Berry Shouse, Jr; John Shouse, Alex Shouse, Donnie Filmore Shouse and Kenneth Wayne Shouse. His sisters: Thedas Shouse and Annabell Shouse. Ernest was a retired art teacher at Breathitt High School and Lees College in Jackson, KY. He is survived by wife: Jeanette Jones Shouse of Jackson, KY. Two sons: Charles Shouse and Michael Shouse of Jackson, KY. One daughter: Kara Shouse of Wise, VA. One grandson: Brayden Shouse. He was born May 12, 1955, in Middletown, OH and was the son of the late Delmer and Rose Combs. He was preceded also in death by step granddaughter: Callie Marie Strong and sister: Barbara Ratliff. He is survived by wife: Charlene Whitely Combs of Jackson, KY. One son: Jimmie Roy Combs of CA. Two daughters: Amber Rose (Daniel) Sewell and Kerri (Michael) Hollingsworth both of Chesapeake, OH. One sister: Pam Butler and Ader, of Jackson, KY. Three grandchildren: Asher Sewell, Jessie Hollingsworth, and Juniper Hollingsworth. Gary Henry Kotarski, age 77, of Campton, KY passed away on Monday, October 12, 2026, at the KY River Medical Center in Jackson, KY after a long illness. He was born August 12, 1949, in Jersey City, NJ and was the son of the late Henry John Kotarski and Doreen Wiedemeyer Kotarski of Jersey City, NJ. He was a Untied States Army Veteran who served his country during the Vietnam War. After graduating Tom's River High School, NJ he worked at Johnson and Johnson Labradors before moving to Kentucky where he studied general Chemistry at the University of Kentucky. He is survived by his wife: Dora Susan Campbell Kotarski of Campton, KY. One son: Joshua Kotarski of Las Vegas, NV. His is also survived by a host of friends and acquaintances. Martha “Sue” Turner, age 89, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away peacefully on October 6, 2026 at her residence. Sue was born in Hazard, Kentucky on July 2, 1937 to the late Burnice Miller and Bess Little Miller. Sue was raised in Jackson, Kentucky and graduated from Breathitt High School. Following her school years, Sue devoted herself to raising her family, deeply adoring her role as a mother and cherishing every moment spent caring for her children and grandchildren. Later in life, she enjoyed a long and successful career with General Electric, working across various departments within the company. In the late 1980s, Sue reconnected with her high school sweetheart, Sherman Turner. Their bond was rekindled, and they were united in marriage shortly after. Together, they resided in Ohio and Starke, Florida, for the majority of their married life. Faith was the cornerstone of Sue’s life. A devoted Christian, she placed her trust in God and found great comfort in her faith. She was a longtime, active member of First Baptist Church of Starke, where she enjoyed growing in her faith and serving others. Sue found peace and comfort in reading her Bible. In her quiet moments, she enjoyed cross-stitching, reading, playing cards, and traveling with her girlfriends. Above all, Sue cherished her family. She treasured her role as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and took great joy in the time she spent with the people she loved. Her family was at the heart of her life, and she delighted in creating memories, sharing laughter, and simply being together. She will be remembered for the love, warmth, and kindness she gave so freely to those around her. She was a true treasure whose presence brought light to the lives of her family and friends, and she will be deeply missed. Sue was preceded in death by her parents; high school sweetheart and husband, Sherman Turner; sisters, Louise Carpenter, Betty Miller, Doris Jean Miller, Bertie Jo Miller, Libby Miller, and Jenny Oaks; and brothers, Harry Cecil Miller, William P. Miller, F.M. Miller, Robert Lee Miller, and Johnny Gabbard. Sue leaves behind her beloved daughters, Renee (Suku) Baskaran of Jacksonville, FL and Susan (George) Moorehead of Ocala, FL; grandchildren, Sue-l (Eric) Cohen, Holly (Chris) Fowler, Miles Baskaran, Cray Baskaran, and Trevor Baskaran; 9 great grandchildren, Joshua Taylor Zedra Atherton, Cecilia Jo Cohen, Eddi Amelia Cohen, Scarlett Hamilton Cohen, Zoe Lyndia Aurora Fowler, Zellie Laine Marie Fowler, Stella JoyZana Diana Fowler, Zadie Isabelle Mac Fowler, and Ezekiel Steven Blaze Fowler; along with several extended family members and dear friends. He was born November 1, 1944, in Chicago, IL and was the son of the late Chester and Jane Sizemore Campbell. He was preceded also in death by his brothers: Phillip Campbell and Rex Campbell. He is survived by two nieces: Teresa Campbell of Jackson, KY and Kimberly Campbell of Hardshell, KY. Great nephews: Nathan Campbell, Darren Campbell and Toby Campbell. Shirley Sue Hounshell, age 81, of Newport, KY, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on September 1, 2026. Shriley was born on December 10, 1944, in Breathitt County, Jackson, KY to her parents Frank and Emma (Watson) Miller. She worked many years as a Nurse's Assistant at the Baptist Convalescent Center in Newport, KY. She was a faithful member of the Full Gospel House of Refuge. Shirley loved being with her family and especially her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband of 58 years Letch Hounshell and twin girls Barbara and Brenda. She will leave a loving legacy behind with her family, sons; Reverend Eddie (Kristi) Hounshell Sr., Letch (Brenda) Hounshell Jr., Frank Hounshell, brothers, Mackie (Kay) Miller, Frank (Mary) Miller and sister Connie Miller. 8 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 13 great-great grandchildren and her faithful loving pup, Leroy. Visitation will be held on Friday September 4, 2026 at Cooper Funeral Home from 5:00 pm-8:00 pm. Service will begin at 8:00 pm with Rev. Eddie Hounshell Sr conducting the service, an additional visitation will be held at Deaton Funeral Home in Jackson, KY from 10:00-12:00 pm on Saturday September 5, 2026. She was born November 23, 1939, in Lee County, KY and was the daughter of the late Pryce Fletcher and Golden Hamilton. She was also preceded in death by her husband: Floyd Shelton. Her uncle: Brack Watkins, Jr. Joy was retired senior vice president of Citizens Bank in Jackson, KY. A faithful member of the First Church of God of Jackson, KY. She is survived by her honorary children: David Neace and Sharon of Jackson, KY. John Gilbert and Donna of Jackson, KY. Honorary grandchildren: Joy Rachel Neace of Jackson, KY and Erika Rae (Joe) Harless of Staffordsville, KY. Greg Neace, Sheena (Doug) Halsey, Stephen (Stephanie) Neace and Brian Gilbert, all of Jackson, KY.
