Mary Lou Stamper Spicer, 78 of Bowlings Creek Altro, KY departed this earthly life Saturday, April 11, 2026, at the Hospice Care Center of Hazard, KY.  Born on May 31, 1947, in the Canoe area of Breathitt County, Mary Lou lived a remarkable life filled with love, resilience and dedication to her Lord and Savior, her family and community.

Mary Lou attended Walking By Faith Ministry at Canoe, KY for many years, blessing many with her talent thru songs.  She was blessed with a Green Thumb and enjoyed her beautiful flowers all summer long.  She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed gardening and canning.  She devoted her life to be a homemaker and raising her children.  Mary Lou will be remembered for her sweet personality, warm hugs and loving smile, and her strength, endurance and spirit of Faithfulness to the very end.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Letch and Viola Turner Stamper.  Grandson: Zachary Carson Turner.  Her brothers:  Cecil, James, Denver and Beckham Stamper.  Her sister: Lizzie Riley.

Mary Lou was the wife of 60 years to Robert Lee Spicer and cherished mother of her children:  Linda (Ronnie) Begley of Jackson, KY, Michael (Norma) Spicer and Chris (Sheena) Spicer of Jackson, KY.  Mary Lou was the proud grandmother to four grandchildren:  Robbie, Micah (Jon), Krissa and Johnna-Lee.  She is also survived by three brothers: Virgil, Letch Jr, and Kenny Stamper.  Her sisters:  Hazel Turner, Kay Hall, Gay Hall.  Two special sisters-in-law:  Betty Spicer and Teresa Neace.  She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, many cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 13, 2026, at Noon at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel with Robbie Turner, Gary Riley and Chris Turner officiating.  Burial in the Turner and Spicer Cemetery at Altro, KY.  Visitation will begin on Monday at 10 am until time of service.  Deaton Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
