Ross Morrell Raleigh, age 74, of Newport, KY passed away on Thursday, June 7, 2018 in Newport.–He was born March 31, 1944. Area music fans were heartbroken to learn of the passing of longtime Newport resident Ross Raleigh, owner of the Southgate House Revival. -No other personality in the regional live music community was more beloved than Ross, who brought joy and friendship to hundreds of thousands of music fans, opening the doors of the regions’s most highly regarded music venue to fans of all types of music for close to five decades. – Ross retired from the Norther Kentucky District Health Department and was a member and Past Master of The Robert Burns Lodge 163.–He was a Shriner as well.-He graduated from the University of Kentucky with a Bachelor’s in Education, and from Xavier University with a Master’s in Philosophy.  He was also an avid art and history buff, and enjoyed watching classic and Western films.–He was preceded in death by his wife: Velma Sue Herald Raleigh.-his mother and father, one brother, and two sisters.  He is survived by one daughter: Morrella Raleigh of Newport, KY-One son: Kevin Raleigh of Covington, KY–a brother and three sisters, and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.–He is also survived by his sister in law: Charity (Jepp) Griffith of Jackson, KY.-Brother in law: Mitchell Clay (Ina Gail) Herald of Sebastians Branch, KY.–Local funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel.–Burial in the Griffith Cemetery in Sebastians Branch, KY. –Visitation will begin on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. until time of service. –Deaton Funeral Home in charge.–In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Shriners Hospital for Children.
