Levi Oaks, Jr, age 91, of Hazard, KY passed away on Sunday, September 1, 2024, at the Eastern KY Veterans Center in Hazard, KY.  He was born February 13, 1933, in Jackson, KY and was the son of the late Levi Oaks, Sr and Florence Thomas Oaks.  He also was preceded in death by his wife: Mary Virginia Miller Oaks.  His daughters:  Victoria Carol Bailey and Eugenia Jo Rogers Warren.  Grandson: Levi Grant Grubbs.  Brothers:  Ed Oaks, Ray Oaks, Sam Oaks, Willard Oaks.  Sisters:  Mary Taulbee, Gene Oaks and Gladys Shouse.   He is survived by three sons:  Sam (Nancy) Oaks and James Burnus Oaks, both of Blackey, KY.  George Edward (Pam) Oaks of Hazard, KY.  One brother:  Charles Oaks of MI.  Three sisters:  Eudell Johnson, Golden Moore and Helen Adkins.   Grandchildren:  Matt Oaks, Samantha Rice, Ashely Nicole Smith, Trey Edward Oaks, Alison Rogers (Jefferson Able, Jr.)  Jenny Lou Rogers (Adam Gwinn), Susie Shepherd (Elisha).  Great grandchildren:  Natalie Rice, Eli Oaks, Braylon Smith, Hayden Smith, Peyton Smith, Paisley Smith, Brooklyn Shepherd, Bentley Shepherd, Nolan Able, Ashton Gwinn and Aaron Gwinn.  He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and many other friends and relatives.  Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at 1:00 pm at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Bill Jones officiating.   Burial in the Miller Cemetery, Miller Branch, Elkatawa, KY.  Visitation will be Tuesday beginning at 11:00 am until time of service.   Deaton Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.  In lieu of flowers, make any donations to the Eastern KY Veterans Center or Bluegrass Navigators.
