Jesse Junior Combs, age 89, of Corbin, KY, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 4, 2025.  Born on June 28, 1936, in Breathitt County, KY, Jesse made his home in Corbin for many years, where he was a member of Southpark United Baptist Church.

Jesse was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Emma Lee (Watkins) Combs, daughter, Tammy Combs; sons, Jeffrey and Jesse Combs; his grandson, Brandon Jones; parents Conley Combs and Mary (Noble) Combs; his brothers, Charles, Carl Cecil, Wiley Bill, and Kenneth Combs; and his sisters Loretta (Combs) Davis and Brenda Combs (infant).

He is survived by his children Susan (Kenneth) Gross, Vickie (David) Turner, and Kathy (Joel) McKendree; his sister, Allene Combs Molands; grandchildren, Elesha Goodfriend, Amy (Nathaniel) Stubblefield, Josh (Kellene) and Eric Turner, Tyler Deaton, Lara Ashliann (David) Smith, Joseph (Anna) , Caleb (Amy), and Nathan (Margaret) McEndree, JL and Lucas Combs, as well as a host of great-grandchildren, family , and friends.

Jesse was a carpenter and blacksmith, accomplished in his craft, who enjoyed traveling the area to show and sell his creations. He was also a talented bluegrass and gospel singer, musician, and songwriter who truly loved sharing his music with others.  He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying, hunting, fishing, horseback riding, and farming.  His hands were always building, creating or caring for the land and what he held dear.  Jesse had a carefree personality and a child-like perspective on life, with a feisty charm that always left an impression on those he met.  Special gratitude to Williamsburg Rehabilitation Center for their care and compassion over these last several months, and their commitment to making Jesse and his family feel welcome and valued.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 7, 2025, from    6 pm to 9pm at Deaton Funeral Home in Jackson, KY.  The funeral will be Monday, December 8, 2025, at 1pm at Deaton Funeral Home, with Jerome McCullah officiating, with burial to follow in the Lawson Cemetery at Mt. Carmel, KY.  Honorary Pallbearers:  Josh Turner, Eric Turner, Joseph McEndree, Caleb McEndree, Nathan McEndree, Tyler Deaton, JL Combs, Lucas Combs.   Deaton Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
