Barbara Lea Back, age 93, of Jackson, KY passed away on Wednesday, February 25, 2026 at her residence.  She was born October 30, 1932 in Breathitt County, KY and was the daughter of the late Shelby and Anna Rebecca Keith Howard.  She was preceded also in death by her husband: Freman Back.  Her daughter: Shelia Gross.  Grandchildren:  Heather Turner, Richard Freman Turner and David Christopher Back.  Her brothers:  Lloyd Howard and Otta Howard.  Her sisters:  Lillian Howard, Orpha Harmon and Mildred Howard.

She is survived by her son: David (Nadine) Back of Bethany, KY.  Her daughter: Deloris Turner of Lexington, KY.  Her brother: Harold Howard of Jackson, KY and sister:  Phyllis (Arnold) Noble of Campton, KY. Grandchildren:  Carla Ruthann Booth, Barbara Lea (Alvin) Eiserman and James Brendon (Jessica) Gross.  She is also survived by 10 great grandchildren and 4 great- great grandchildren as well as a host of other relatives and many friends.

Barbara and her husband Freman owned and operated Paul’s Motel and Variety Pizza in Jackson, KY for many years, and these businesses are still in operation today serving the people of Breathitt County and surrounding areas.  A work ethic was established by Freman and Barbara and has left a legacy for honesty and dependability for their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 27, 2026, at 1:00 pm at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial in Jackson Cemetery.  Visitation will be Friday beginning at 11:00 am until time of service.  Deaton Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.  Pallbearers:  Alvin Eiserman, Braxton Eiserman, Zachary Eiserman, James Gross, Taylor Booth, Brody Booth.
