Bettie (Yewell) Cornett, age 86, of Jackson, KY passed away on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at the University of Kentucky Hospital in Lexington, KY.-She was born July 05, 1932 in Bardstown, KY and was the daughter of the late Morgan and Sarah (White) Yewell.-She was preceded in death by her husband: Dr. Robert E. Cornett. -One sister: Sarah Yewell Cain.-Bettie was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Jackson, KY.-A retired registered nurse and assisted her husband for many years in his practice in Jackson, KY.-A vocal advocate for the Breathitt County Senior Citizens.-She was appointed County Judge Executive in Breathitt County to serve remaining term of her late husband.-She is survived by two daughters: Susan (Tony) Hutchins of Winchester, KY-Mary Stevens of Jackson, KY-One son: Bobby (Carlie) Cornett of Jackson, KY-Three sisters: Mary Yewell Graham and Mina (Ed) Yewell Broughton of Bardstown, KY-Sallie Yewell Washick of Greenville, SC.-Two brothers: Morgan R. (Jan) Yewell, JR of Frankfort, KY-John Thomas Martin Yewell of Bardstown, KY-Five grandchildren: Lee Noble, Travis (Courtney) Cornett, Beverly Campbell, Samantha Stevens, Lindsey (Andee) Stevens.- Five great grandchildren: Deacon Campbell, Ethan Campbell, Trevan Fugate, Jackson Renfro, Sawyer Renfro.- One brother in law: Frank Cain.-Visitation will be on Friday January 18, 2019 from 5 pm -8:00 pm at Deaton Funeral Home .- Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. -11:00 a.m. Saturday January 19 at the First Baptist Church of Jackson with a memorial beginning at 10:45 a.m. with Jonathan Clemens officiating.-Burial in the Bardstown City Cemetery, Bardstown, KY-Deaton Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.-Pallbearers: Deacon Campbell, Trevan Fugate, Ethan Campbell, Jackson Renfro, Sawyer Renfro, Travis Cornett, Tony Hutchins, Scott Jewell, Lewis Jewell; -Honorary Pallbearers: David Hubbard, Ronnie Hubbard, JC Sewell, Jack Niece, Vaugh Rasor, Jesse Johnson, Harry Whitaker, David Ditsch, Archie Sebastian, Ernest Shouse.-In lieu of flowers, donations requested be made to Breathitt County Senior Citizens or First Baptist Church of Jackson. |
