Matilda Riley Johnson, age 91, of Freeman Fork, Buckhorn, KY passed away on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at her residence.-She was born April 8, 1927 at Freeman Fork of Breathitt County, KY and was the daughter of the late Richard and Polly (Stamper) Riley.-Matilda (aka- Granny, Tildie, Tillie) was born on the family farm located on Freeman Fork, KY in the house built by her father. She lived her life, raised her family and ascended to heaven in the same home.-She had a love and passion for beautiful flowers, quilting, sewing, and weaving. Her love, grace, and quiet strength were evident throughout her life for her God, family, friends and neighbors. She was an avid sports fan and loved the UK Wildcats.- Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband: John T. Johnson.- Her siblings: McKinley Riley, Roosevelt Riley, Myrtle Stamper, Berta Deaton, Georgia Turner, Fred Riley, Kelly Riley, Edna Turner, Calvin Riley, Jessie Banks, Howard Riley and Necie Riley.- Her daughter in law: Marie Johnson.- Her great grandson and his father: John Randell and Randy Turner.- She is survived by one son: Paul Johnson of Buckhorn, KY- Two daughters, Helen (Darrell) Taulbee of Frankfort, KY-Polly (Tony) Coulter of Falling Waters, WV.-Seven grandchildren: Kimberly (RH) Stamper, Paul Neal (April) Johnson, Paul Eric Davis, Kevin (Becky) Taulbee, Kelly (John Atha) Taulbee, Jonathan (RaeAnn) Coulter, Justin (Melissa) Coulter.-Ten great grandchildren: Brianna, Austin Paul, Madison, Makenzie, Michael, Haydn, Preston, Dawson, Rowan, Akira.–She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.-Funeral services and A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Buckhorn Log Cathedral at Buckhorn, KY with Reverends Leslie Abner, Tom Burns and Mike Riley officiating.-Burial in the Riley-Johnson Cemetery, Matilda Drive, Buckhorn, KY.-Visitation will begin on Friday at 5:00 p.m. at the Log Cathedral.-Deaton Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.- In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her memory to BLUEGRASS HOSPICE CARE, 57 Dennis Sandlin Drive, MD Cove, Hazard, KY 41701.-Pallbearers: Sons-in-law and Grandsons. |
