Martha Spencer

Martha Spencer, age 86, passed away of a long illness April 1, 2026, in Plymouth, Indiana.  She was surrounded by her family.  She was born May 14, 1939, in Jackson, KY.   She was the daughter of the late Goley and Cora Vires Spencer.

Martha was the operator of Cora’s Drive In on Cane Creek in Breathitt County for many years.  Everyone enjoyed her home cooking, especially her chili.  Martha enjoyed being with her family, playing Rummy, and visiting the casino to play Penny Slots.

In addition to her parents, Martha was preceded in death by her brothers:  George Spencer, Lester, Sam and Vernon Spicer.  Her sisters:  Gertrude and Maureen Spencer, Wanda McIntosh, Louise Salyers, and her grandson; Ralph Thorpe, Jr.

Martha leaves behind her children: Teresa Gail (Ralph) Thorpe, Tabatha (David) Goebel, Wayne Spencer and special niece Carolyn Spicer, Grandchildren: Tracy (Brian Leydens), Spencer, Lucas and Sedona Goebel, Chastity Spencer, Goley (Cecily) Spencer and 5 great grandchildren.  She is also survived by a host of other relatives and many friends.

Visitation will Be Tuesday, April 7, 2026, from 11AM to 1PM at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel.  Graveside service immediately following at the Jackson Cemetery.  Deaton Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
