Denver Gilbert

Denver Gilbert, age 82, of Canoe, KY passed away on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at the Hazard ARH.  He was born May 25, 1943, at Oneida, KY and was the son of the late Ance and Thelma Nolan Gilbert.  He was preceded in death by brothers: David Gilbert and Troy Gilbert.  Sisters: Mary Caudill, Betty Duncan and Wilma Howard.  Grandson:  Floyd “Darren” Johnson and Jonathan Gilbert.  He is survived by his wife: Grace Gilbert of Canoe, KY.  Sons: Eddie Johnson (Darlene), Denver Gilbert, Jr, George Gilbert (Vanessa) and all of Canoe, KY.  Daughters: Mary Johnson (Donald) of Altro, KY and Tommie Gail Gilbert of Canoe, KY.  Brother: Donald Gilbert of Newport, KY.  Sisters:  Edith Johnson, Bonnie Gilbert, Linda Johnson, all of Altro, KY and Geraldine Johnson of Covington, KY.  Special friends:  AJ Arrowood, Jasper Turner, Barb Collins.  Ten grandchildren:  Crystal Back (Michael), Ashley Napier (Austin), Ben Johnson, Mellisa Southers (Kelly) Charles Southers (Tracie) Brook Back (Drake), Kayla Gilbert, Kenneth Mayes (Jessica). Doughlas Johnson (Susan).   and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other loving friends and family.  Funeral services will be held on Sunday, September 14, at 1:00 pm at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel with Chris Turner officiating.  Burial in the Johnson Family Cemetery, Butterpoint Road, Canoe, KY.  Visitation will begin on Saturday from 5:00-9:00 pm.  Deaton Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.  Pallbearers:  Family and Friends.
