Larry Gene Simpkins

Larry Gene Simpkins, age 74, of Jackson, KY passed away on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at the Wells Hospice Care Center in Hazard, KY.  He was born July 18, 1950, in Jackson, KY and was the son of the late John Simpkins and Nora Lee Watkins Simpkins.  He was preceded also in death by a brother:  Harvey Simpkins and his sister: Anna Mae Tincher.  He is survived by special friend:  Patty Spicer of Jackson, KY.  Two sons:  Larry Wayne (Jamie) Simpkins of Jackson, KY and Austin Zachary (Autumn) Spicer of Vancleve, KY.  Two daughters:  Patricia (Jared) Sparkman of Pippa Passes, KY and Dara (Dylan)Vanover of Jackson, KY.  One sister: Amanda Turner of Jackson, KY.  Seven grandchildren:  Mattea Bailey, Noah Carver, Alyicia Elam, Kayden Little Lee Vanover, Harlie Vanover, Hunter Spicer, Ember Spicer.  Two great grandchildren:  Matthew Bailey and Ayden Bailey.  He is also survived by a host of other relatives and friends.  Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 3, 2025, at Noon at Deaton funeral Home Chapel.  Burial in Bailey Cemetery, Roark Mountain, Jackson, KY.  Visitation will begin on Sunday from 5:00-9:00 pm.  Deaton Funeral Home in charge of arrangements
