Jason Douglas Oaks passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 22, 2005, with his mom and dad by his side at the University of Kentucky Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. Jason was born August 23, 2004, at Hazard, KY. He was preceded in death by his Pap (Doug Oaks), Mimi (Martha Hudson), Papa (Q Back), Mamaw (Margie Back) and Mamaw (Adna Fern Southwood). Aunt (Betty Back) and Uncle (Ray Back).
Throughout Jason’s journey, he always remained courageous and fought with determination until his last breath. He inspired everyone who knew him and even those that didn’t. Jason was a devoted turkey hunter with his dad. He could always be seen out with his mom, shopping at thrift stores. Those are memories that they will cherish for a lifetime. He was a source of hope and light to so many.
Jason is survived by his parents: Richard and Angela Oaks of Jackson, KY. His dog of 10 years (Ruby). Sister: Tanisha (Chris) Bonham of Florence, KY. Brother: Arthur Jacob Oaks, Jackson, KY. Special Aunt and Uncle: Sissy Erica and Josh Turner of Jackson, KY. Two nieces that he loved so very much: Evelynn and Nora Bonham. Three cousins that were more like his little sisters and nephew, Alexis, Braelynn and Carter Turner of Jackson, KY. A special Cousin/Aunt Margie Robinson, Special cousin/ sister, Ashley Robinson (Dustin) along with Eliza and Carter Campbell. Also, a very special buddy, David Napier (Poor Boy). He is also survived by a host of other friends and relatives.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, October 26, 2025 at 2:00 pm with Brother-in-law (Chris Bonham) conducting service. Burial in the Oaks Family Cemetery, Lick Branch Road, Jackson, KY. Visitation will begin on Saturday, October 25 at 5:00 pm. Deaton Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, Jason had requested donations be made to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Bluegrass.
