James David Allen, age 72, of Richmond, KY and formerly of Jackson, KY passed away on Sunday, January 11, 2026, at the UK Hospital in Lexington of a brief illness.  He was born August 25, 1953, in Knott County, KY and was the son of the late Walter Allen and Joellen Miller Allen.  James was a retired mechanic for Falcon Coal Company.  He is survived by two sons:  Jarrod (Bobbie) Allen of Richmond, KY and Dusty (Hayley) Allen of Lexington, KY.  Two sisters:  Geraldine Deaton of Richmond, KY and Sharon (Gary) Langford of Mt. Vernon, KY.  Two grandchildren:  Brody Allen and Lucy Allen and one future grandson.  Special friends: Teresa Hollon, Penny Allen and Charlie Deaton.  He is also survived by a host of other friends and relatives.   Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at Noon at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel with Mark Driskill officiating.   Burial in the Jackson Cemetery.  Visitation will be Friday, January 16, 2026, from 5:00-9:00 pm.  Deaton Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.  Pallbearers: Jarrod Allen, Dusty Allen, David Deaton, John Allen, Zack Lusk, Larry Davidson.  Honorary Pallbearers:  Johnny Lusk
