Gene Bays, age 68, of Lexington, KY and formerly of Jackson, KY passed away on Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at the UK Hospital in Lexington, KY.-He was born July 2, 1949 in Lexington, KY and was the son of the late Clyde Eugene and Mary (Needham) Bays.–He was a local area dentist for many years in Jackson, KY.–He was also preceded in death by one sister: Elizabeth Rodgers.–He is survived by his wife: Jackie (Callahan) Bays of Lexington, KY.–One daughter: LeeAnn (Jason) McKnight of Jackson, KY.–One sister: Peggy Howard of Jackson, KY.–Three grandchildren: Abbey Fugate, Jack Fugate, Mia McKnight.–Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel with Gary Bellamy officiating.–Burial in the Jackson Cemetery, Jackson, KY.–Visitation will begin on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. until time of service.–Active Pallbearers: Larry Chaney, Chester Thomas, Dwayne Little, Bob Bays, Corey Smoot, Robert Baker, David Napier, Chris Gillium, Dan Smoot.–Honorary Pallbearers: Dr. John Gray, Andy Hamilton, Tom Walker, Ralph Tapp, Mike Stidham, Dale Torok, Ronnie Hubbard, J.B.
