Garfield Deaton, age 86, of Salem, IN and formerly of Barwick, KY passed away on Thursday, November 28, 2024, at Meadowview Health and Rehab in Salem, IN.  He was a retired pipe fitter and a veteran of the US Marines. He was born January 10, 1938, in Barwick, KY and was the son of the late Charlie and Cleo Spencer Deaton.  He was also preceded in death by his wife: Vergie Mullins Deaton.  Two brothers:  Boyd Deaton and Bert Deaton.  He is survived by two daughters:  Tonya (Terry) Gregory of Salem, IN and Lavada Poynter of Hardinsburg, IN.  Two sons: Ronnie Deaton of Salem, IN and Bob Deaton of Fredericksburg, IN, One brother: Ron (Betty) Deaton of Chavies, KY.   Two sisters:  Lillian Deaton and Faye Deaton.  He is also survived by a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren, many other relatives and friends.  Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 2, 2024, at 1:00 pm at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel with Chris Turner officiating.  Burial in the Deaton Cemetery, Barwick, KY.  Visitation will begin Monday at 11:00 am until time of service.  Deaton Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
