Sorry to hear this news. Back in the early 80's, Donnie would frequently stop by The Great Escape skating rink in Jackson when I was working and hang out in the DJ booth with me. We'd shoot the breeze about music and what was happening. We both enjoyed people-watching the crowd that came to skate or play video games. We laughed a lot and had a good time. Donnie sure had a fun demeanor and a sly sense of humor that I enjoyed. Recently, I enjoyed seeing his occasional pic or post on Facebook and could tell he still had that same comedic touch that I used to enjoy. Rest in peace, Donnie. -Jeff

Donnie and I attended twelve years of school together, beginning at Little Red. We graduated together in June of 1975 from BHS. Donnie was intelligent and a good student who always got high marks. In high school, he always kept us guys up dated on the NFL and Monday Night Football with Dandy Don, Howard Costello and Frank Gifford. He liked all three. I have many fond memories of Donnie. Unfortunately, after high school, everybody goes separate ways. When a close classmate dies, it takes a “little bit of your heart”. At Little Red, Donnie rode the early bus and left school approximately 45 minutes early. I always kidded him and how he got that deal/bus. Ms. Deaton, said time for early bus and out the door went Donnie and 2-3 more. We had to stay till 3 PM. One day after school, I went to Dime Store and Donnie was there. I kidded him and told him, you left early and didn’t take the bus. We laughed. Donnie was as a good guy. RIP

Donnie and I were good friends. We did a lot of basketball games together for WJSN. I know we covered several regional tournaments in the 1980’s. We also played tennis as a doubles team several times. Donnie had a unique sense of humor and a real interest in music and sports. I will miss him.
