Don Edward Carpenter, age 65, of Jackson, KY departed this earthly life on Monday, August 21, 2017 at the Wells Hospice Care Center in Hazard, KY after a long illness.– He was born June 20, 1952 in Paintsville, KY and was the son of the late Kennie and Laura (Morris) Carpneter.–He was a former Falcon Coal Employee.–He also was preceded also in death by five sisters: Frances Gillum, Doshia Fugate, Dovie Whitaker, Ida Ritchie and Sarah Fensck.–Four brothers: Floyd Carpenter, John C. Carpenter, William B. Carpenter and Squire Carpenter.–He is survived by his wife of 47 years: Mary (O”Neill) Carpenter of Jackson, KY.–Two daughters: Donna (Lester) Thorpe of Jackson, KY–Rebecca Carpenter of Jackson, KY.–Four grandchildren: Kelsie and Erin Thorpe; Donavan and Adrianna Turner all of Jackson, KY.–Five sisters: Judy (Bill) Smith of Jackson, KY–Faye (Raleigh) Shepherd of Jackson, KY.–Gladys Howard of Ohio-Susie Yosick of Ohio.–Jacqueline Carpenter of Jackson, KY.–Three brothers: Bill Carpenter, Kennie Carpenter; Dwight(Teresa) Carpenter all of Jackson, KY.–Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 24, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel with Emmitt Campbell officiating.–Burial in the Carpenter Cemetery, Guage, KY.–Visitation will begin on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. until time of service.– Pallbearers: Lester Thorpe, Kennie Caprneter, Bill Carpenter, Bill Smith, Donavan Turner, Billy Smith II; Bill Friley. –Honorary pallbearers: Dwight Carpenter, Raleigh Shepherd. — In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice of the Bluegrass in Hazard, KY.–Deaton Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
