It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Cora L. Strong. She was born on February 11, 1937, in Hazard, Kentucky to Oscar and Emma Hensley. Cora passed away on July 5, 2024, after an extended illness, surrounded by the warmth of her family, leaving behind a legacy of endless love, laughter, and cherished memories.

Faith was the cornerstone of Cora’s life. Her devotion to the Lord guided her actions and provided solace in times of joy and sorrow alike. She exemplified compassion and empathy, touching the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Cora was a woman of simple pleasures and grew up with a deep-rooted love for cooking, gardening, quilting, front-porch sitting, and word searches. Above all, Cora cherished her role as a mother and grandmother. Her love for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren knew no bounds, and she delighted in every moment spent with them. Whether it was walks through the woods, working puzzles, going on vacations, sharing stories by the bonfire, having get togethers, or simply being present in their lives, she imparted compliments, kindness, and many laughs.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers:  William Jasper Hensley and Larry Hensley.  One sister: Sara Osborne.

Cora is survived by her children John Strong, Richard “Anthony” Strong, Pamela Love, and Kimberly Morterud, along with a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  One sister: Carolyn Faulkner and one brother: Lonnie (Gracie) Hensley.

Services to celebrate Cora’s life will be held in Westland, Michigan at Uht’s Funeral Home, 35400 Glenwood Rd. The visitation will be on Monday, July 8th from 3:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Visitation services will also be held in Jackson, Kentucky at 15 Deaton Lane on Wednesday, July 10th beginning at 4:00 P.M. with the funeral service being held Thursday, July 11th at 11:00 A.M.  with Raymond Moore officiating. Burial in the Hensley Family Cemetery, Mount Craft Road, Saldee, KY.  Deaton Funeral Home in charge of local arrangements.

As we bid farewell to Cora, we find comfort in knowing that she is at peace, reunited with loved ones who have gone before her. May her soul find eternal rest in the embrace of the Divine, where she will continue to cook, quilt, and watch over her cherished family from above
