Carl Watkins, “Big Daddy”; age 82, of Vancleve, KY passed away on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at the St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, KY after a brief illness.    He was born February 4, 1943, in Breathitt County, KY and was the son of the late Pearl and Mae (Dodson) Watkins.  He was preceded also in death by his wife:  Freida Mae Noble Watkins.  His son:  Darrell Watkins.   His brothers:  Johnnie Watkins, Stanley Watkins, Ralph Watkins, Eugene Watkins, Tommy Watkins and Claude Watkins.  Sisters: Victirine Back and Audrey Sallee.  He is survived by two sons:  David Watkins and Gary (Teresa) Watkins, of Jackson, KY.  Two grandsons:  Michael Watkins of Richmond, KY and James Carl (Nicole) Watkins of Jackson.  Great Grandchildren:  Reagan Watkins, Beckett Watkins, Remi Watkins, of Richmond, KY and Noah Watkins and Levi Watkins of Jackson, KY.  Eight brothers:  Ovie Jo Watkins of MI; Paul Watkins and Raymond Watkins, of Jackson, KY.  Pearl Watkins, Jr of Means, KY.  Donnie Watkins of Vancleve, KY; Clyde Watkins of OH; Earl Watkins of West Liberty, KY and Price Watkins of Campton, KY.  He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.  Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 14, 2025, at 11:00 am at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel with Bobby Hollon and Kenneth Noble officiating.  Burial in Haddix Cemetery, Haddix, KY.  Visitation will begin on Thursday from 5:00-9:00 pm with additional singing at 7:00 pm.  Deaton Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
