Berry Combs, Jr, age 88, of Jackson, KY, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at the Breathitt Health and Rehabilitation Center in Jackson.

Berry shared 65 years with his wife, Jean Irene (deceased).  He is survived by children Richard (Vickie), Delcie (Colburn), Patricia (Mark), Berry III, and Hope.  Also surviving are his loving 7 grandchildren, (Richard Jr, Brian, Ben, Jessica, Markie, Jason, Brandon) and 7 great grandchildren (Jordyn, Gavin, Jakori, Jaylynn, Myles, Liam, Benson).

Berry devoted his life to hard work and family.  Berry retired from Public Gas Company where he built a long career and where his dedication and strong work ethic earned him the respect of colleagues and friends alike.  Berry also served as a long-time member of the Kentucky Farm Bureau Association (50 years).

After retirement, Berry found happiness at home with his beloved wife, Jean, their children and grandchildren.  Berry enjoyed spending time with his family and took pride in the traditions and love they shared.

Berry was an avid gardener and found peace in tending his garden and sharing the vegetables with friends and neighbors.  His other great passion was beekeeping.  He cared deeply for his bees and delighted in harvesting the honey.

Those who knew him will remember his quiet strength, his kind heart, his love of a good joke, and his deep love for the people and things that mattered most.

A service to celebrate his life will be held on October 18, 2025, at 1:00 pm at the Little Cane Creek Baptist Church, Hwy 52, Jackson, KY.   Deaton Funeral Home in charge of arrangements
